Job Title: Learning Disability Specialist
The role of a Learning Disability Specialist involves working with clients with various conditions, including learning disability, autism, mental health, physical, or sensory disability.
* Encouraging and enabling students/service users to identify their learning, social, emotional, cognitive needs for Individual Action Plan (IAP) or Person Centred Planning meetings.
* Providing regular supervision and training to Rehabilitation Officers/Trainee Psychologists/Assistant Psychologists to ensure evidence-based interventions and support.
* Designing and delivering training to staff on education, rehabilitation, disability management, and other relevant areas.
* Liaising with stakeholders, including families, professionals, and external agencies, and engaging in crisis management as required.
Key Responsibilities:
* Career facilitation and supporting clients into the workplace and/or education through psychologist interventions.
* Supporting Rehabilitation Officers/Trainee Psychologists/Assistant Psychologists to provide evidence-based interventions and support.
* Designing and delivering training to staff on up-to-date topics in education, rehabilitation, disability management, and other relevant areas.
* Liaising with stakeholders, including families, professionals, and external agencies, and engaging in crisis management as required.
Requirements:
* A recognized professional qualification in Psychology to Master or Doctorate level.
* Chartered membership (or eligible for) with the Psychological Society of Ireland or British Psychological Society.
* At least 3 years' experience in the field of Learning Disability/Autism/Mental Health/Physical or Sensory Disability.
* An understanding of the Recovery Approach and Person Centred Planning would be an advantage.
