Go Eve is building innovative EV charging infrastructure focused on solving one of the industry’s biggest problems: how to charge large numbers of vehicles with limited grid capacity and limited capital cost. Our core platform, DockChain, allows multiple vehicles to share DC fast charging infrastructure through intelligent power and charging orchestration. We work across hardware, embedded systems, cloud software, fleet operations, energy optimization, and EV charging systems. We are a small highly technical company operating internationally across Europe and North America. Our products are already certified and deployed in the field, and we are now scaling both our software platform and operational capabilities. The RoleWe are looking for a Lead Engineer/Head of Software to lead the development of Go Eve’s cloud, backend, integrations, and operational software systems. The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO/CTO and cross-functional engineering teams to build the software layer underpinning intelligent EV charging infrastructure at scale. In many software-only companies, this would effectively be a CTO role. At Go Eve it sits alongside broader hardware and systems engineering leadership. The role combines engineering leadership, system architecture, and real hands-on technical contribution on a daily basis.ResponsibilitiesLead the architecture and development of Go Eve’s software platformOwn backend systems, APIs, frontend applications, cloud infrastructure, and software operationsManage and mentor internal and external software developersDesign scalable systems for charger orchestration, telemetry, monitoring, and fleet charging managementWork on integrations with:OCPP charging infrastructureEnergy and utility platformsPayment and operational systemsBuild tools for:Charging optimizationData visualization and reportingCollaborate with hardware and embedded engineering teamsImprove software reliability, automated testing, CI/CD workflows, observability, and operational resilience. Support cybersecurity and secure infrastructure practicesContribute to technical strategy and product directionHelp build engineering processes appropriate for a fast-moving startup environmentUse modern AI-assisted development tools to accelerate implementation, testing, debugging, and productivity, while maintaining oversight for safe systems in an electrical context.Ideal CandidateYou are likely someone who:Is deeply technical and relentlessly curiousHas completed and led major technical initiatives and has led software teamsIs highly pragmatic and execution-focusedCan operate effectively in ambiguity and rapid-growth environmentsUnderstands how to balance speed, reliability, and long-term architectureIs comfortable moving between strategic thinking and detailed implementationCommunicates clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersEnjoys building products that interact with real-world infrastructure and hardwareHas strong experience in backend and cloud software engineeringIs an enthusiastic software person and coderExperience with EV charging systems is desirable but not required. Strong candidates from adjacent domains such as cloud infrastructure, telecoms, industrial systems, IoT, robotics, energy, networking, or operational software platforms are encouraged to apply.Technical EnvironmentThe exact stack will continue evolving, but current technologies and areas include:DatabasesAPIs & ProtocolsREST APIs, WebSocket-based systems, OCPP and EV charging protocolsFrontendReact-based frontend systemsLanguagesData & TelemetryAnalytics and telemetry pipelinesIntegrationHardware/IoT/cloud integration, MQTTWhat We OfferOpportunity to shape a category-defining EV infrastructure platformSignificant technical ownership and autonomyWork on real-world energy and transport challengesInternational projects and deploymentsFlexible working arrangementsBuild a team and have direct influence on company directionLocationFlexible / hybrid. Candidates in Ireland, the UK, or Europe preferred.Travel to customer sites, deployments, and industry events may occasionally be required.Note:This job is also posted with a UK location. It is the same role. Either location is possible.
