Summary:
Supports manufacturing projects and contributes to developing and implementing the business manufacturing strategy. Responsible for implementing manufacturing solutions to meet customer product introduction requirements. Reports directly to the Senior Automation Engineer.
Requirements:
* Ideally holds a National Diploma in a suitable Engineering subject with 2-3 years’ experience in supporting technical project management.
* Knowledge of computer systems, word processing, spreadsheets, and ideally integrated manufacturing systems, Allen Bradley & Siemens PLCs, Motion and Machine Control Systems.
* Knowledge of Robotics, Cognex Vision Systems, Barcode Scanning & RFID Automatic Identification and Data Capture used in high-volume manufacturing.
* Preferably familiar with Industrial Networks (Ethernet IP, ControlNet, Profibus) and has experience with MES systems. Good understanding of Manufacturing Automation, Machine Design, Development, and Validation processes.
* Experience in the Medical, Packaging, or Technology industries with a good understanding of regulatory requirements is preferred.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to accurately document work performed.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and travel as required.
* Organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to prioritize tasks.
* Able to work independently on projects and collaborate across departments and levels.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Support equipment, process, and product introduction projects.
* Implement manufacturing strategies to meet customer and company needs.
* Participate in project teams, defining deliverables, timelines, and costs.
* Maintain relationships with customers and equipment suppliers for new business and process development.
* Ensure equipment meets specifications, costs, and timelines.
* Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, validation, health, and safety standards.
* Support equipment installation, training, and handover to operations.
* Collaborate with departments to meet process requirements.
* Identify and introduce manufacturing methods and opportunities.
* Assist in personnel training on new processes or systems.
* Ensure procedures and systems support new processes and equipment.
* Perform equipment maintenance as needed.
* Adhere to company principles, codes of conduct, and safety regulations.
* Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

In the absence of the Automation Engineer, duties and responsibilities will be delegated accordingly.
