Overview:
An international organisation with a strong operational footprint across Ireland, the UK, Europe, and North America is seeking a Financial Controller to lead the day-to-day activities of its finance function. Reporting to the Finance Director and working with the Head of Finance, this is a key leadership role with responsibility for financial control, reporting, and team management within a fast-paced, evolving business environment.
Purpose of the Role:
To ensure the integrity of financial operations by overseeing all aspects of monthly reporting, compliance, and financial control. The successful candidate will lead a large finance team, partner with senior business stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement across systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
* Review and consolidate balance sheet reconciliations and P&L performance
* Work with finance leadership on strategic projects and system upgrades
* Analyse financial results, identify trends, and present insights to senior leadership
* Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and working capital initiatives
* Lead and develop a team of finance professionals across AP, AR, and GL functions
* Ensure compliance with all statutory, tax, and audit requirements
* Implement and maintain robust financial controls and governance frameworks
* Drive improvements in systems, reporting tools, and finance processes
* Act as a key point of contact for external auditors and Group Finance
Candidate Requirements:
* Fully qualified accountant (ACA preferred) with 5+ years PQE
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Financial Controller or similar senior finance role
* Proven experience managing and mentoring a large finance team
* Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
* Advanced Excel capabilities and strong systems knowledge
* Solid understanding of Irish and UK tax regulations
* Comfortable operating in a deadline-driven, change-oriented environment
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is a commercially minded finance leader with a hands-on approach and a strong control mindset. They are comfortable managing competing priorities, developing high-performing teams, and influencing senior stakeholders across the organisation. A background in large or complex organisations will be beneficial.
