Job Description: Flight Operations Coordinator/Dispatcher
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-driven Flight Dispatcher to join our operations team. The Flight Dispatcher is responsible for planning, monitoring, and coordinating flights to ensure the highest levels of safety, efficiency, and compliance with aviation regulations. Working closely with pilots, air traffic control, and ground operations, this role ensures that flights operate smoothly from departure to arrival.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and release flight plans in compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and operational considerations.
* Analyse weather conditions, NOTAMs, airspace restrictions, and operational data to determine safe and efficient routing.
* Monitor the progress of flights in real-time, providing updates and support to flight crews as conditions change.
* Coordinate with pilots, maintenance teams, ground staff, and air traffic control to ensure timely and safe operations.
* Provide flight crews with critical information including fuel requirements, alternate airports, payload limitations, and performance data.
* Initiate operational decisions in response to irregularities such as diversions, delays, or emergencies.
* Maintain detailed records of flight operations and ensure compliance with civil aviation authority regulations.
* Participate in safety audits, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Support commercial department in preparing quotations for specific routes and plans.
Qualifications
* Valid Flight Dispatcher Qualification or evidence of course completion.
* In lieu of dispatcher qualification, a recent pass in EU ATPL theoretical knowledge subjects.
* Proven experience as a Flight Dispatcher, Flight Operations Officer, or similar role.
* Strong knowledge of meteorology, air traffic control procedures, aviation regulations, and aircraft performance.
* Excellent communication and decision-making skills under pressure.
* Proficiency with flight planning software and operational control systems.
* Ability to work flexible shifts which may include nights, weekends, and public holidays.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Aeronautics, or related field (preferred).
* Experience in airline or charter operations.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
