Position Summary:
The Grade 4 Administrator will support the National Service for Motor Neuron Disease.

The work will include involvement with external organisations (IMNDA) and with other MND sites in Cork and Galway where appropriate, and with the ALS/MND Research Manager at Trinity College (TCD), under the supervision of the National Director of the MND Clinical and Research Programme ( Prof. Hardiman, co-located at Beaumont Hospital and TCD)

Responsibilities
Grade 4 Administration MND Register
The primary purpose will be to coordinate the ongoing work of the Irish MND Register. The successful candidate will work closely with MND Clinical team, Clinical Professionals and MND Specialist Nurses to ensure that data from consenting patients are included on the Register in a timely manner with a high level of accuracy. This will involve attendance at the MND clinic, and for those consenting patients, the administrator will extract relevant clinical information from charts to incorporate into the National MND Register. Direct engagement with consenting patients by telephone will also be required to complete detailed worksheets relating to their diagnosis and other aspects of their condition. The successful candidate will receive training from, and will liaise closely with the ALS/MND Research Manager, who is based at Trinity College Dublin.

For the purposes of the Register management, the post will report to the Director of the ALS/MND service (Prof. Hardiman)

The post will also provide additional clerical support for the 5 MND nurses and other Health Care professionals who provide outreach services. This will include sourcing charts and other clinically relevant materials, and ensuring that reports from home visits and other interventions are collated and filed in a timely manner.

The post will also support the development of IT technologies including the use of telemedicine applications to support patients and their families, and enable the data upload where required in ongoing clinical trials.

Criteria:
Selection criteria outline the qualifications, skills, knowledge and/or experience that the successful candidate would need to demonstrate for successful discharge of the responsibilities of the post. Applications will be assessed on the basis of how well candidates satisfy these criteria.

Mandatory:

* Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc
* Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:
* Have satisfactory experience as a Clerical Officer in the HSE, TUSLA, other statutory

health agencies, or a body which provides services on behalf of the HSE under Section

38 of the Health Act 2004

Or

(ii) Have obtained a pass (Grade D) in at least five subjects from the approved list of

subjects in the Department of Education Leaving Certificate Examination, including

Mathematics and English or Irish1

* Candidates should have obtained at least Grade C

on higher level papers in three subjects in that examination.

Or

(iii) Have completed a relevant examination at a comparable standard in any equivalent

examination in another jurisdiction

Or

(iv) Hold a comparable and relevant third level qualification of at least level 6 on the

National Qualifications Framework Maintained By Qualifications And Quality Ireland,
(QQI).

Note1: Candidates must achieve a pass in Ordinary or Higher level papers. A pass in a foundation level

paper is not acceptable.

Candidates must have achieved these grades on the Leaving Certificate Established programme

or the Leaving Certificate Vocational programme.

The Leaving Certification Applied Programme does not fulfil the eligibility criteria. and

* Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of

suitability, for the proper discharge of the office.

* Age Age restriction shall only apply to a candidate where s/he is not classified as a new entrant (within the meaning of the Public Service Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, A candidate who is not classified as a new entrant must be under 65 years of age on the first day of the month in which the latest date for receiving completed application forms for the office occurs.
* Health Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
* Character Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character.

Desirable:

* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
* Experience working in a healthcare environment
* Excellent keyboard skills

Desirable:

* Qualification in a health sciences / related area
* Experience in working with new technologies
* Possess analytic and IT skills to support integration of digital technology with clinical care
