Avalon House Hotel is a beautifully restored 19th-century manor located in the heart of Castlecomer, Co. Kilkenny. With individually styled guest rooms, an inviting bar and bistro, and dedicated event spaces, Avalon House Hotel has become a favourite among locals and visitors alike. Our food and beverage offering — rooted in seasonal, locally sourced ingredients — is at the heart of what we do, with Lil's at Avalon and the Ballroom providing memorable dining and celebration settings.
We have recently commenced work on an additional 14 bedrooms and have exciting plans for further developments in the coming year, including expanded wedding and conference facilities. These enhancements will strengthen our position as one of Kilkenny's most distinctive destinations for leisure, business, and special occasions.
To support this next phase of growth, we are seeking a Part-Time Sales Executive to help drive direct sales, grow our customer base, and expand our presence across all key markets.
Important Note
This is not a digital marketing or social media management position. While you will collaborate occasionally with our digital marketing partners, this role is focused entirely on proactive sales — including cold calling, attending meetings, and building personal relationships that lead to tangible business growth.
If your experience lies primarily in online or digital marketing, this position will not be a suitable fit.
Role Overview
The Sales Executive will be responsible for developing new business across weddings, events, accommodation, food & beverage, and group travel. This is a hands-on, field-based role requiring confidence, initiative, and excellent people skills.
You'll represent Avalon House Hotel directly in the community and wider region — meeting potential clients, calling on local businesses, attending fairs and events, and promoting our hotel through personal connection and relationship-building.
Key Responsibilities
Sales (Primary Focus):
* Identify and actively pursue new business opportunities across weddings, private events, group bookings, corporate clients, and Golden Years packages.
* Engage in face-to-face sales meetings with prospective clients.
* Manage and respond to incoming sales enquiries, preparing tailored proposals and conducting guided site visits.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, event planners, tourism partners, and community groups.
* Represent Avalon House Hotel at trade shows, wedding fairs, and networking events.
* Support the achievement of monthly sales and revenue targets.
Marketing (Support Function):
* Assist in the creation and distribution of printed promotional materials such as brochures, flyers, and posters.
* Support in-house events, showcases, and promotional activities that generate leads.
* Liaise with those managing digital marketing by supplying offers, event details, and relevant content when required.
Requirements
* Proven experience in face-to-face or field-based sales, ideally within hospitality, tourism, or a related industry.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with confidence in cold calling and direct client engagement.
* Self-motivated, target-driven, and capable of working independently.
* Strong organisational and time management skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with CRM systems is an advantage.
* Local knowledge of the area and an interest in tourism, weddings, and events are beneficial.
