Principal Manufacturing Engineer
We are looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our Healthcare client's team.
In this role, you will support efficient operations in the production area, optimise processes, and ensure that production targets are consistently achieved.
You will monitor the performance of equipment, machinery and tools, taking action to resolve issues that impact product quality, yield, or compliance.
You will also work closely with research and development teams to integrate new products and processes into the manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Lead workforce planning by identifying resource needs, preparing justifications, gaining approvals, and managing recruitment in partnership with HR.
Develop and support team members through training, coaching, setting challenging objectives, and managing performance reviews.
Oversee daily operations, providing clear direction to supervisors, skilled employees, and professional staff to achieve project and production goals.
Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, responding to requests and ensuring clear communication of processes.
Implement and uphold company policies and regulatory requirements, including compliance with BSI standards and equal opportunities legislation.
Contribute to operational policies and procedures that support efficiency and staff engagement.
Monitor performance indicators, costs, and budgets, ensuring resources are used effectively.
Participate in validation activities, from providing input and documentation to managing execution.
What We're Looking For
A Level 7 qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, with 6+ years' experience in manufacturing or a similar environment.
Strong technical and business acumen, with the ability to manage costs, resources, and departmental goals.
Experience in a regulated environment with a strong understanding of compliance requirements.
Problem-solving skills with a focus on process improvement and continuous development.
Leadership qualities: able to motivate, coach, and develop staff while driving team objectives.
Strong organisational and planning abilities, with experience managing budgets and resources.
Confident decision-maker who can manage day-to-day operations while aligning with wider business goals.
Ability to work independently under minimal supervision, while providing guidance and support to your team.
