Role Overview

The Key Account Manager will be responsible for managing and growing key retail accounts across Ireland. The role will focus on delivering sustainable revenue growth, improving distribution and visibility, executing joint business plans, and managing promotional and margin mechanics in line with company strategy.

This role is highly commercial and requires strong negotiation skills, an understanding of Irish route-to-market structures, and experience working with wholesalers, symbol groups, and forecourt operators.

Key Responsibilities

Account Management & Growth


• Own and develop key accounts (e.g. Musgrave, BWG, independent wholesalers, symbol groups, and forecourt groups).


• Deliver volume, revenue, and margin targets in line with annual operating plans.


• Build and execute Joint Business Plans (JBPs) with key partners.


• Identify new distribution opportunities within independent and symbol estates.

Commercial & Negotiation


• Lead commercial negotiations including cost price changes, promotions, listings, and margin structures.


• Manage promotional planning, funding, and ROI across wholesale and retail executions.


• Balance manufacturer, distributor, and retailer margin expectations.


• Support pricing architecture and pack strategy relevant to each channel.

Execution & Activation


• Ensure strong in-store execution across convenience and forecourt outlets (range, availability, pricing, merchandising).


• Work cross-functionally with marketing and field sales to deliver launches, activations, and seasonal plans.


• Track promotional compliance and post-promo performance.

Forecasting & Planning


• Own account forecasts and contribute to demand planning and S&OP processes.


• Analyse sales data, distribution, and rate of sale to drive decisions.


• Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer performance.

Internal Collaboration


• Act as the voice of the customer internally.


• Work closely with supply chain, finance, and marketing to deliver customer commitments.


• Ensure accurate and timely reporting.

Key Skills & Experience

Essential


• Minimum 2+ years' experience in an FMCG commercial role within the Irish market.


• Proven experience managing key retail, conv or wholesale accounts.


• Strong understanding of Irish route-to-market models.


• Commercially astute with strong negotiation and analytical skills.


• Experience managing promotions, margins, and trade terms.


• Full clean driving licence.

Desirable


• Experience working with challenger or growth brands.


• Experience with symbol groups and independent retail estates.


• Familiarity with Nielsen/IRI or equivalent sales data.


• Experience working with food & beverage brands.
