Overview
Dexcom is seeking a Senior Controls Technician to support equipment engineers in the improvement, installation, validation and transfer of replicated custom automated equipment used in manufacturing scale-up for existing or new Dexcom products. The role involves supporting cross-functional equipment deployment teams and coordinating with outside suppliers to meet equipment specifications and timelines.
Responsibilities
* Work with schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions.
* Test performance of electro-mechanical assemblies, using test equipment.
* Operate, test, or maintain robotic equipment and vision systems.
* Carry out operational tests and fault isolation on automated systems and equipment.
* Analyze and record test results, and prepare written documentation.
* Perform activities in equipment development under supervision of the project engineer, including the assembly and testing of equipment, fixtures, processes and/or electronics, completing engineering studies and validations.
* Follow Dexcom's Safety and Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) program.
* Update equipment related documentation (manuals, drawings, and specifications) as needed.
* Carry out other duties as assigned and perform all tasks with appropriate safety requirements.
Qualifications
* Typically requires a Level 6/7 qualification and a minimum of 6-8 years of related experience.
* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical documents related to equipment specifications.
* Ability to write routine reports, pass downs and correspondence.
* Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, engineers and managers.
* Knowledge and experience with PLCs, automated production/process equipment, pneumatics, electro/mechanical systems and packaging equipment.
* Experience with process improvement projects (e.g., improving yields, reducing downtime).
* Proven ability to work hands-on in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
* Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
* Knowledge of high-reliability, high-volume manufacturing equipment and processes.
* Technical writing skills for manufacturing documentation and process development; experience creating and revising technical documentation.
