Galway.Role OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated Health & Safety / Environmental Officer to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations across our operations. This role involves coordinating safety initiatives, conducting audits, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental practices. This role is critical in promoting a safe workplace and sustainable practices while supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of PMS Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the PMS Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems.Implement our Safety Management System in line with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and related regulations.Review and update the PMS Safety Statement and associated documentation periodically to ensure compliance with business needs and regulatory requirements.Conduct internal safety audits and risk assessments for projects and site activities.Investigate and report on incidents, near misses, and non-conformance's.Prepare and review Safety Files, Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and Temporary Traffic Management Plans.Coordinate environmental management initiatives and ensure compliance with ISO and Safe-T-Cert standards.Organise and deliver health and safety training (e.g. deliver toolbox talks, inductions, and safety briefings).Liaise with project teams to ensure PSDP and PSCS obligations are met.Liaise with regulatory bodies, represent the company at customer sites as necessary and during inspections or audits.Maintain accurate records of training, inspections, and incident reports.Qualifications & SkillsA recognised qualification in Occupational Health and Safety level 7 or 8.Knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation and environmental standards.Experience in road survey or construction environments desirable.Highly organised with strong attention to detail.Strong communication skills, and the ability to engage effectively at all levels.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Strong IT skills.Full, clean driving licence is desirable.Certifications such as Safe Pass, Manual Handling Instructor, First Aid, VDU Assessor, PSCS, PSDP are advantageous.BenefitsWork with a team committed to safety and sustainability.A competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.Company Pension (after probationary period).Bike to Work Scheme.Free Parking.Generous Annual Leave AllowanceComprehensive Continued Professional Development program.Support for Professional Association Membership (IOSH membership or equivalent professional body affiliation).Dynamic and rewarding career with challenging, varied and interesting projects.Sick pay.Employee Assistance ProgrammeHow to ApplySend your CV and cover letter to with the subject line: Health & Safety / Environmental Officer Application.Job Type: Full-timeWork Location: In personApplication deadline: 12/12/2025
