Social Care Worker – Day Service Swinford, Co. Mayo

* Permanent 39 hours per week

Job Brief

The successful applicants will be required to deliver on the vision for people they are supporting. You will work directly with a number of adults, supporting them to gain valued social roles in their lives and participate in meaningful creative activities through developing appropriate supports. You will also advocate on behalf of the individuals with regard to their individual needs and preferences and support the development of Individual Plans.


Candidate Requirements

* Experience working in a person and family centered manner.
* Experience of working in an autism informed / neuro diverse manner.
* Experience in the area of facilitating and supporting people who have high and/or complex needs.
* Drive, enthusiasm, and passion for delivering person centred solutions
* An ability to develop meaningful community links
* A genuine understanding and interest in working alongside people in effecting positive opportunities and change in their lives in a meaningful way
* The ability to listen, to see and respectfully advocate for and on behalf of the individual with regard to their needs, preferences, rights and dreams
* A genuine interest and enthusiasm to stay true to the ethos of the services
* Ability to problemsolve and be creative around service responses
* Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of New Directions Standards and PersonCentred Planning
* Have excellent communication skills and a clear understanding of team work with motivation to deliver high quality facilitation, working alongside individuals, their families and other disciplines
* Selfmotivated and able to manage their time effectively
* Flexibility will be required from time to time to respond to service demands
* Competent IT skills is preferred


Other duties involved

* Contribute to and participate in the local service planning process and the creative development and ongoing changing needs of the service
* Provide personal care and support to service users where required
* Ensure a safe place of work, incorporating Western Care Association\'s Dignity at Work Policy and Health & Safety requirement
* To promote safety in all environments, in line with the Association\'s practices
* Use positive approaches to support people who may have challenging behaviour in line with Organisational practice


Qualification Details

An appropriate 3rd level qualification in Social Care, or equivalent (minimum level 7)

please note your qualification must be eligible for CORU registration


Other Requirements

* Full driver\'s license is essential
* All applicants will be subject to Irish Garda Vetting & Reference checks
* All applicants from Countries outside the E.U. will be required to provide relevant work authorization to take up employment in Republic of Ireland. This must be submitted along with Application
* All applicants will be required to access Overseas Police Clearance if they have lived outside of the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland more than 6 months since the age of 18 years


Salary Scale

Social Care Worker Pay Scale (Scale Range €34,969 - €52,619 per annum)

This is based on full time working hours i.e. 39 per week
