Main Purpose and Objectives of Position
Eli Lilly requires an experienced MES Engineer to work within their existing MES team to design and develop new electronic batch records, deliver changes to existing electronic batch records, and provide day to day support for the MES system at the Kinsale manufacturing site.
Key Responsibilities
* Work with the business to review existing production areas with paper batch records and develop strategies and guidelines for conversion to the MES solution.
* Participate in process mapping of existing practices as part of requirements definition.
* Work as part of a team in designing and developing electronic batch records/workflows within the MES solution.
* Partner with the business to design, develop and deliver changes to existing electronic batch records, weigh & dispense, and equipment tracking systems.
* Support, troubleshoot and resolve issues within the MES system.
* Participate in design reviews to ensure traceability of requirements.
* Develop components that can be shared and used across multiple batch records within the MES solution.
* Develop, execute, review and approve MES computer system validation deliverables.
* Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities within the MES solution.
* Stay abreast of emerging technologies, latest technology standards and implications to the MES solution.
* Monitor and report key KPIs/metrics such as exceptions at team and governance meetings.
* Support and provide subject-matter expertise to other members of the MES team.
* Coach/mentor members of the MES team.
* Support interfaces between the MES system and other IT systems such as site Historian, DCS, SAP, etc.
* Support and participate in regulatory audits.
* Attend and represent the MES team at process team meetings.
* Act as lead investigator to support MES-related deviations.
* Develop MES knowledge management and training material.
* Represent the site at Global MES team meetings and external forums.
* Develop and foster good working relationships with the business and the MES team.
Required Skills
* Experience in object-oriented programming languages and demonstrated experience in Visual Basic scripting.
* Demonstrated experience in implementing technical/MES solutions in a GMP environment.
* Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and supporting an MES system or similar system.
* Experience in working in a development team, with ability to lead in resolving issues or developing solutions when needed.
* Experience with direct customer interactions for requirements gathering and translating into a programming solution.
* Good working knowledge of automation systems, Historians and DCS.
* Knowledge of GMPs, regulatory requirements, computer system validation.
* Very good written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
* Demonstrated learning agility technically and in business processes and applications.
* Demonstrated initiative to build relationships, learn new business processes and identify opportunities.
* Demonstrated ability to proactively identify issues and either resolve or escalate as needed.
Educational Requirements
BS in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
