The Safety Engineer manages the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of a safe, accident-free, healthy work environment, compliant with all applicable EHS regulations and company policies and procedures. This position is a 12-months fixed term contract.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct JSAs, risk assessments and assist in machine safety assessments across all site operations.
* Support the team in EHS management and execution of new projects and programs.
* Provide direction and advice to site management in the area of national and EU safety legislation, relevant machinery safety standards and best available techniques.
* Provide EHS expertise for change management process, including review and approval of equipment and machinery modifications from EHS perspective.
* Provide technical safety input to the design and construction of new facilities, automation lines and process equipment.
* Design and implement corporate safety systems with specific emphasis on process safety management, process hazards analysis, industrial hygiene, risk assessment, accident and injury reporting, and change control.
* Develop and implement site occupational health programs.
* Lead and where required support the investigation of EHS incidents/accidents, recommend and drive corrective and preventive actions.
* Participate in the development and implementation of site security protocols and procedures.
* Participate in pre-start-up safety reviews, internal and external auditing, site safety inspections and walkdowns.
* Assist the team with the development, documentation and implementation of safe systems of work for manufacturing and maintenance operations.
* Support the development and implementation of key EHS programs in line with legislation/best practice and deliver appropriate EHS training to personnel onsite.
* Promote and support positive and proactive safety culture through engagement with employees and relevant stakeholders.
* Achieve a series of effective EHS KPIs for the site and maintain compliance.
* Participate and support emergency response and business continuity planning.
* Support company quality programs and initiatives.
* Ensure ongoing compliance with GMP in all practices, recording of events and processes.
* Ensure compliance with all learnings from all GMP training events.
* Other responsibilities may be assigned from time to time as needed, based on the evolution of the company and the requirements of the department/position.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Degree qualified in Automation, Electrical or Process Engineering essential
* Minimum of Level 6 Certificate in Health & Safety from an accredited institution or Tech IOSH certification, or proven experience in process safety
* Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a GMP production environment, preferably in medical, pharma or technology sector.
* Experience in carrying out ergonomic, chemical and occupational noise assessments is highly desirable
