About the RoleThe Accounts Assistant will report to the Financial Controller and work closely with the Financial Accountant. This role is suited to someone with experience across all areas of finance who is looking to further develop their technical skills in a fast-paced finance function.The successful candidate will support the Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), banking, and payroll processes, while also playing an important role in month-end close through reconciliations and financial schedules.This is an excellent opportunity to gain broad exposure across a busy finance department while contributing to continuous process improvement.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccounts Payable Process supplier invoices, credit notes, and payments in a timely and accurate manner.Resolve AP queries promptly and professionally. Provide cover for AP and AR tasks when required.Banking & PayrollPrepare daily banking and complete weekly and monthly bank reconciliations.Assist with preparation of payroll inputs (timesheets, allowances, deductions) and liaise with HR and department managers where required. Support payroll reporting and reconciliations.Month-End & ReportingPrepare month-end reconciliations including bank, control accounts, supplier statements, and customer accounts.Assist with preparing month-end schedules and journals.Maintain the fixed asset register and support asset additions and disposals. Assist with data preparation for management reports and KPI dashboards (Excel/Power BI).Compliance & AuditSupport VAT, payroll, and other tax compliance requirements. Assist with internal and external audit requests, supplying documentation and reconciliations.Other DutiesProvide support on ad-hoc analysis and reporting. Contribute to continuous improvements within finance processes and controls.
The CandidateThe ideal candidate will have prior experience in an accounts or finance role and be comfortable working across AP, AR, banking, and payroll. They should be organised, accurate, and able to manage multiple tasks to deadlines.We are seeking someone with strong attention to detail, good problem-solving ability, and a willingness to learn. A positive, proactive attitude and the ability to work collaboratively within a team are essential.
Skills & Qualifications1–2 years' experience in an accounts or finance role (AP, AR, or general accounts administration).Qualification in Accounting or Business, or studying a professional qualification.Strong numerical and analytical skills.Excellent excel skills.Experience with ERP systems.Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
