As we continue to grow, we are seeking a driven and hands-on Financial Controller who can quickly take ownership of our accounting and compliance functions.
The Role
Reporting to the Financial Director and working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, you will manage the full finance function for the group entities. This is a hands-on position, ideal for a proactive professional eager to shape the finance strategy of a leading retailer.
Key responsibilities include:
* Preparation of monthly management accounts, budgets, cashflow statements and statutory financial statements.
* Month-end inventory and financial close; reconciliation of balance sheet control accounts.
* Compliance and returns: VAT, RTD, Intrastat, PAYE, corporation tax and CSO/UK reporting.
* Cash & treasury management, including daily reconciliations, foreign currency hedging, AP and debtor ageing.
* Cost analysis, pricing strategy reviews and margin management.
* Oversight of annual audit and preparation of audit files.
* Continuous improvement of finance systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365, Excel, Power BI).
* Ad hoc projects, ERP and Office365 support, and operational finance initiatives.
About You
We're looking for someone with strong audit and accounting experience—ideally an Audit Manager or similar from a professional services firm—who is ready to move into industry and take immediate ownership of a broad finance remit.
Essential qualifications & experience:
* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent).
* 3+ years in a senior finance/audit role with exposure to diverse systems and businesses.
* Strong technical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
* Confident communicator able to work independently and with senior stakeholders.
A proactive, ambitious and commercially minded approach is key.
