Key Role: Safety & Environmental Manager
Job Description:
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of safety, health, environmental and quality are maintained across the organisation.
Responsibilities include implementing and overseeing all aspects of safety, health, environmental and quality policies, conducting site inspections, and ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company standards.
1. Maintain high safety, health, environmental and quality standards and ensure ongoing development and implementation of improved EHSQ practices, policies and procedures.
2. Remain abreast of new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all applicable legislation.
3. Promote employee awareness/training for EHSQ and a proactive EHSQ approach/attitude amongst all employees.
4. Prepare and update all company Health and Safety procedures, policies, safety statements etc.
5. Ensure all staff are made aware of all company policies and procedures.
6. Distribute all company-related Health and Safety procedures and policies.
7. Prepare training plans, procure and arrange Health and Safety training for all staff.
8. Manage safety officers and allocate them to live sites.
9. Ensure subcontractor compliance with Health and Safety legislation on site.
10. Carry out accident and incident investigations, as necessary.
11. Responsible for the preparation of all accident and incident reports.
12. Maintain and update accident and incident statistics.
13. Liaise with company's insurance providers regarding any claims, including but not limited to personal injury claims.
14. Prepare Health and Safety plans for all projects.
15. Liaise with statutory bodies (including but not limited to the Health and Safety Authority) in relation to health, safety and environmental matters.
16. Implement and audit ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 standards.
17. Maintain and implement "SafeTcert" accreditation.
18. Carry out site safety audits and inspections.
19. Provide assistance and guidance to company-employed safety officers.
20. Ensure the organisation's activities are addressed in all Health and Safety documents and procedures.
21. Address any safety non-conformances and continually propose improvements to standards.
22. Report to senior management on any safety-related issues
23. Order and maintain a stock of safety supplies.
24. Liaise with and assist the marketing department in promoting safety via various social media outlets.
25. Assist with tenders, pre-qualifications etc.
26. Prepare presentations for tendering processes and potential client meetings.
27. Managing safety campaigns i.e. Safety Week.
28. Chair regular Safety Meetings with the safety team.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety or equivalent qualification.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and other software relevant to the role.
* Safe Pass and Manual Handling qualifications.
* Minimum 5 years' experience in the construction industry.
* In-depth knowledge of Irish Health and Safety legislation.
