In this role you will report to the Electrical Department Manager and be responsible for all elements of the electrical installation required for greenfield design and build, or brownfield refurbishment of water and wastewater treatment plants and associated equipment.
After design and installation you will be responsible for the efficient and effective handover of the installation to the commissioning and construction delivery teams and assist as required during the commissioning and operation stage.
Due to the continuous expansion of Glanua you may also be required to work on designs for other related industries.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure Health, Safety, Environmental, Sustainability & Quality standards, policies and procedures are developed into all designs and design outputs.
Work collaboratively with other engineering disciplines in Process, Mechanical, Control & Automation, Civil and Structural to ensure an optimum design solution is reached.
Reporting to the Electrical Department Manager, design works include the compilation and review of site surveys, condition reports, M&I listings, electrical load balances, MIC load calculations, medium voltage design, generator design and sizing for backup applications, general electrical services design, lighting and emergency lighting designs, earthing and lightning protection designs, cable sizing/schedules, review of I/O listings, control panel drawing schematics, specialist reports on harmonics and selection of equipment to mitigate the harmonics, Solar PV generation and battery storage and renewable generators for small applications, site surveys and preliminary condition reports on existing infrastructure/assets.
Procurement of packages for LV works such as Main Distribution Boards, MCCs, control panels, automation hardware/software, starters, electrical installation works, earthing and lightning protection.
Procurement packages for MV works such as distribution transformers, MV switchgear and specialist design services for MV works.
Procure and manage 3rd party design consultants as required.
For all procurement packages, provide a technical and commercial review of tender returns, ensuring they align to the required standards and demonstrate value for money.
Provide a recommendation to procurement.
With the tendering team, assist in the preparation and pricing of tender submissions for electrical works.
Promote and advocate key themes from Glanua Business Strategy, including a move to off-site manufacturing, improved digitalised ways of working and drive towards sustainability.
Encourage use of innovative technology and ways of working within the team.
Harness opportunities and mitigate risk through effective design and risk mitigation measures during the lifecycle of the design process.
Ensure you are aware of local Asset Standards, Electrical Standards, WIMES, etc and embed requirements into respective designs.
Keep appraised of the latest standards and technology through continuous professional development (CPD).
When onsite during the installation phase the main duties and responsibilities will also include:
Ensuring Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards and policies are always adhered to on-site.
Working on assigned projects to manage the delivery of the electrical and installation scope, including procurement, installation supervision, commissioning and handover.
You may be required to work on more than one project at a time depending on the size and complexity.
Liaising with the relevant employer's representatives, consultants, subcontractors, site staff, commercial resources and the general site team involved in the project.
Managing site personnel and subcontractors to ensure work is conducted in line with design documentation and contract programme.
Ensuring design, materials and workmanship are in line with the specified requirements.
Ensuring the project is delivered in-line with quality procedures and that all FAT, SAT, inspection and test records, insulation resistance checks, I/O point-to-point checks, rotation checks and commissioning of the works are completed in-line with the quality plan and Employer's Requirements.
Completing quality checks to ensure works are in line with design outputs and ready for commissioning works.
Co-ordinating project close-out stages including handover to the end user.
Preparing and submitting project handover files, including as-built drawings and control panel schematics post-commissioning incorporating any changes made during the installation phase.
Working as part of a team in the delivery of one or more projects at any one time, embracing the ethos of a "one team" culture.
Other duties as required from time to time.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Level 7/8 Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Minimum of 3 years' experience, preferably in the Water & Wastewater sector.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent planning, organisational, training, teamwork, problem-resolution and presentation skills.
Excellent literacy, numeric and IT skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Autodesk packages.
Working knowledge of PLC's (programming not required) and Variable Speed Drives / motor starters, valve actuators and instrumentation in general.
Working knowledge of Trimble ProDesign (Amtech) or ETAP calculation software would be an advantage.
Experience in a pharmaceutical environment and/or food grade manufacturing environment would be an advantage.
Full Clean driving licence.
