Job Summary:
The Spa Therapist administers professional massage, body treatments and beauty treatments to our
guests. They must have a thorough knowledge of numerous massage modalities, posses a general
understanding of body treatments and beauty treatments and be willing to train in our spa's specific
massage and body treatment offerings. They must possess excellent communication skills and be
able to learn the product and service knowledge necessary to effectively provide wellness solutions
to meet the needs of our guests.
Specification:
Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and/ or abilities or aptitudes
to perform each duty proficiently. Some requirements may exclude individuals who pose a direct
threat or significant risk to the health and safety of themselves, other employees or guests.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Carry out massage to include full body, hot stone, back, head, arm, leg etc which may range
in duration from 25 minutes to 6 hours as part of a package.
• Carry out facials which may range in duration from 25 minutes to 6 hours as part of a
package.
• Prepare treatment room in advance of treatment which includes making the bed, checking
products and equipment are fully stocked.
• Clean the treatment room at the end of each shift which includes cleaning all surfaces,
sweeping and washing the floors, and wiping down products.
• Be on time for your shift, prompt with each appointment and perform services within the
appropriate time allotted for the service.
• Provide consistent professional massage and body treatments in accordance with spa
protocols and accepted certification practices.
• Effectively inform and educate our guests about specific wellness concerns.
• Be flexible with your schedule, supporting the needs of the spa.
• Properly care for equipment and use proper amounts of product to assist with cost controls.
• Have complete knowledge and understanding of all services and products offered.
• Uphold the standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by law and the spa's policies
and procedures.
• Perform prep work, properly clean and restock room as required.
• Communicate to management any and all occurrences involving staff or guests in the spa
that require attention.
• Actively promote the spa, treatments, services and retail, as well as programs, promotions
and/or discounts available.
• Handle guests' questions and concerns professionally and courteously.
• Provide accurate, appropriate and immediate responses to all requests by guests.
• Possess the ability to work without direct supervision.
• Maintain a positive attitude and contribute toward a quality work environment.
• Regularly attend, participate in and support training and staff meetings for the spa.
• Assist in all areas of spa operation as requested by management.
• Assist in emergency situations.
• Promote packages, promotions, and up sell whenever possible.
• Document all guests' requests, complaints or problems immediately and notify designated
department/personnel for resolving the situation and follow up within 10 minutes to ensure
completion and guest satisfaction.
• Address guests complaints with empathy, and courtesy, always finding a resolution that they
feel is satisfactory. Never allow a guest to leave unsatisfied.
• Assist with Spa cleanliness and presentation removing garbage, assisting with towels and
laundry, setting rooms and spa at end of shift and clean and sanitize all surfaces.
• Successful completion of the training/ certification process.
Position Requirements and Qualifications:
• Leaving Certificate or equivalent required.
• Must have qualification from ITEC or CIBTEC or C.I.D.E.S.C.O. or City and Guilds NVQ Level 3
(or equivalent)
• Must have a massage qualification and Anatomy and Physiology Certificate from ITEC or
CIBTEC or
• C.I.D.E.S.C.O. or City and Guilds (or equivalent)
• Must have enthusiasm and possess excellent customer service skills.
• Enjoy working with people and possess a friendly and outgoing personality.
• Excellent communication and listening skills, as well as basic computer knowledge.
• Possess and maintain all required licensure, registration and education requirements as
dictated by the state or country of employment.
• Possess a good command of the English language.
• Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate with guests and team members in person and
over the phone.
• Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.
• Ability to handle money in a responsible manner.
• Must be a team player.
Desirable
A college education or training in the hospitality industry.
Previous experience in a luxury market.
Fluency in a second language; preferably English, French, German or Spanish.
