Job Description
Our Soil, Groundwater and Remediation (SGR) Services team are looking for enthusiastic Geo-Environmental Graduate Consultants in our Cork or Dublin offices from August 2025 onwards.
About our team
AECOM’s Environmental site investigation and assessment division is large and global, serving sectors including tech and pharma, property and development, oil and gas, infrastructure, water, and the public sector. The team offers a network of specialists, cross-office collaboration, and opportunities to learn advanced technology and grow within a strong safety culture.
Projects
We work for leading Irish and international clients on commissions across sectors such as industrial, pharmaceutical, strategic land holders, ports, road and rail.
Your responsibilities
* Designing and undertaking desk studies, site investigations, risk assessments and remediation solutions, including laboratory procurement for environmental analysis, data analysis, and report writing.
* Coordinate field service/laboratory subcontractors and supervise ground investigation works, collecting soil and groundwater samples/data at sites in Ireland, the UK, and overseas.
* Compile and interpret field and analytical data into conceptual models to inform risk assessments for human health, water and ground gas/vapour, and design mitigation/remediation solutions.
* Advocate for best health and safety practices and address issues throughout the life of a project.
* Learn and implement AECOM’s environmental protection and sustainability principles within the SGR Services context.

Qualifications
Ready to push the limits of what’s possible?
We are looking for candidates with:
• MSc preferred but not essential.
• Degree in Environmental Engineering, Engineering Geology, Applied Geology, Environmental Geology, Hydrology, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or related fields with an interest in contaminated land.
• Knowledge: practical application of geological and hydrogeological concepts, chemistry, strong MS Office skills, and an interest in contaminated land.
Skills
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions and travel away from home when required (supported by the business).
• Driving licence or reliable transport is beneficial due to site travel.
• Flexible with working hours and locations with travel within 1–2 hours of home office and occasional longer trips.
• Effective communication with clients, colleagues, and subcontractors; ability to explain technical issues and capture feedback.
• Ability to learn quickly, work under pressure, and manage tasks with the team.
• Strong research and report-writing skills, numeracy, attention to detail, and commercial awareness for business development.
Preferred qualifications
* Field investigation experience
* Experience collecting groundwater data and samples
* Understanding of contaminated land assessment and field sampling
* Experience in a corporate environment or consultancy
* Fluency in other languages is an advantage
* Relevant voluntary or placement experience
