Post Summary In order to ensure compliance with the Official Languages Act, ****, Official Languages (Amendment) Act **** and the Universities Act, **** as amended, and the Higher Education Authority Act **** and to promote the Irish language and culture in Trinity, in accordance with the Universitys strategic objectives, Trinity seeks to appoint an Assistant Irish Language Officer.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the promotion of the Irish language in the College and will assist with administering the Colleges on campus and off campus Irish language student residential schemes.
The appointee will be responsible for advising University authorities and staff in relation to compliance with the provisions of the Official Languages Act, ****, Official Languages (Amendment) Act ****, the Colleges Irish Language Schemes and ensuring compliance with Colleges Irish Language Policy.
Fluency in both the Irish and English languages, and a high level of competency in written Irish are essential.
Post status: Fixed-Term Contract (3 years) In this role you will be responsible for the promotion of the Irish language in Trinity College, compliance with relevant legislation, manage Irish language classes and training for staff and students, assist with administering the Colleges on-campus and off-campus Irish language student residential schemes, run events, and provide a translation and proofreading service for College amongst other duties as outlined in the job description.
The nature of this employment contract is fixed-term as the function of this role as outlined will be subject to a review and may not continue in its current form.
The long-term capacity of the post will be contingent upon the outcome of the review.
Hours of Post: 35 hours per week Salary: This appointment will be made on the Administrative 3 Salary Scale (€46,874 - €58,667 per annum) at a point in line with current Government pay policy.
