Overview
Health and Safety Specialist role at Depaul Ireland. This position involves supporting the continued development and oversight of Health & Safety governance and auditing systems, working with multiple stakeholders to deliver projects across services and departments.
Location: Head Office, Dublin (Hybrid). Hours: Fulltime - 35 hours per week (Monday-Friday). Travel required.

1. Scope of Responsibility
The role requires developing and overseeing Health & Safety governance and auditing systems, collaborating with department leads, and developing training materials related to Health & Safety and auditing. Policies and procedures related to Health & Safety and auditing will be developed in conjunction with relevant departments.
2. Key Areas of Responsibility
1) Health and Safety General
* Annual review of Safety Statements and risk assessments to ensure compliance
* Support implementation of fire safety risk assessments in all sites
* Assist services and central office staff to enhance understanding and compliance with Health & Safety standards
* Develop Health & Safety resources for services and offices
* Publish regular internal Health & Safety communications (e.g., Health & Safety Theme of the Month)
* Undertake other Health & Safety projects as required and support services to implement them
* Review Fire Register documents and support services to implement
2) Health & Safety Reporting & Administration
* Develop and review Health & Safety reporting documents in line with legislation and best practice
* Support Health & Safety compliance reporting including quarterly and annual reports
* Attend and support actions from quarterly organisational Health & Safety meetings for ROI and NI
* Manage the internal Health & Safety shared drive
3) Internal Audit
* Carry out internal Health & Safety audits as required
* Develop robust internal audit processes for Health & Safety and fire safety
* Ensure audits comply with Health & Safety legislation and best practice
* Develop audit tools and Internal Auditor Group
* Prepare overall reports including corrective actions from audits
* Track and trend analysis of audit findings for organisational learning
* Develop Audit training material as identified by audits
* Support implementation of NQSF/QAF and internal audit processes in services
* Support annual Health & Safety legislative reviews and action plans
* Assist services to implement changes in legislation and best practice
5) Training
* Assist in developing Health & Safety training as required
* Deliver training in person and/or online related to Health & Safety, fire safety, and Fire Register
6) Procurement
* Support Procurement Manager on Health & Safety specific procurement and legislative requirements
* Collaborate with Procurement Manager and Facilities Department on development of preferred suppliers and annual reviews

3. Person Requirements
* Understanding of the work of Homeless Services
* Essential: Experience implementing and managing Health & Safety Standards and knowledge of Health & Safety Legislation
* Knowledge/experience of Quality Standards (NQSF/QAF or equivalent) is advantageous
* Experience planning and carrying out audits
* Experience writing reports and action plans
* Experience implementing policy and practice for consistency
* Content creation or delivery of training desirable
* Health and Safety qualification desirable
* Some regional travel in Ireland and Northern Ireland required
