The Role
We require IT Business Analysts to work within the Customer Solutions Information Technology department within Irish Life. In this role, you'll work within a Scrum team and be part of a Business Analyst Community of Practice, collaborating to design new solutions to improve business efficiency and productivity.
Business Analysts at all levels work closely with business stakeholders to understand the business problems. You'll analyse existing processes and data flows to identify pain points and opportunities. You'll help shape solution designs and costings, define system functionality and user experience, and ensure close collaboration and sign off by the business through each sprint delivery.
These positions are open to junior and mid-level candidates, with responsibilities tailored to match your experience.
Key Accountabilities
• Collaborate with the Scrum team to analyse business problems and help shape solutions for system and process improvements.
• Create and maintain Scrum artefacts, including user stories, acceptance criteria and backlog items, ensuring they are clear and structured.
• Actively participate in sprint ceremonies, ensuring user stories are well‑defined, understood, and aligned with delivery goals.
• Define testable acceptance criteria that support effective QA planning and high‑quality test case development.
• Facilitate or support workshops and requirement elicitation sessions with business and technical stakeholders.
• Produce high‑quality analysis deliverables such as process maps, data analysis, use cases and user stories.
• Contribute to the BA community of practice by sharing knowledge and offering informal support to colleagues.
• Proactively develop skills and support continuous improvement, identifying and implementing enhancements to team processes and ways of working.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
What will you need to be successful in the role?
• Experience in the Financial Services sector, ideally with strong knowledge of Life & Pensions insurance products and systems.
• At least 2 years' experience as a Business Analyst or working within an IT change or delivery environment.
• Familiarity with recognised delivery methodologies and structured ways of working, with hands‑on experience in Scrum or Agile frameworks.
• Ability to produce clear, concise and high‑quality documentation in plain English, with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills with a proactive, solution‑focused and collaborative mindset.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, able to break down complex issues and present findings clearly.
• Willingness and appetite to learn, grow and contribute to a high‑performing team culture.
• Advantageous: knowledge of ILFS products and systems (including New Business and closed books).
