The role
Occupational Health Advisor (Contract / Permanent)
Overview
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Occupational Health Advisor to support the delivery of a high-quality Occupational Health service within a regulated environment.
This role will focus on promoting employee health and wellbeing through the effective implementation of occupational health programmes, working closely with cross-functional teams including HR, EHS, and management.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the day-to-day delivery of Occupational Health services on site
Conduct and coordinate medical surveillance programmes in line with regulatory and organisational requirements
Provide clinical support for the management of workplace injuries and illnesses
Support return-to-work and absence management processes
Deliver health advice and guidance to employees and management on work-related issues
Carry out specific assessments such as pregnancy risk assessments
Collaborate with EHS teams to ensure alignment between health surveillance and exposure monitoring outputs
Maintain and review Occupational Health procedures and documentation
Coordinate workplace health initiatives, including first aid and emergency response programmes
Promote a positive culture around health, wellbeing, and prevention
Required Experience & Qualifications
Registered General Nurse with active professional registration (e.g. NMBI or equivalent)
Recognised qualification in Occupational Health
Minimum 3 years’ experience in an Occupational Health setting
Experience delivering medical surveillance and workplace health programmes
Proven experience managing injury, illness, and return-to-work cases
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
Experience in absence management and workplace case management
Ability to interpret and report on health-related data
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to work collaboratively across HR, EHS, and operational teams
High level of organisation, autonomy, and attention to detail
Proficient in using IT systems and health records/databases
Additional Information
Experience within regulated environments (e.g. manufacturing, pharmaceutical, corporate) is advantageous
Exposure to working alongside EHS / Industrial Hygiene teams is beneficial
Ongoing commitment to professional development is expected
