Job Responsibilities
* Serves food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
* Responsible for portion control of food items.
* Ensures safety precautions in assigned areas, reporting any incidents or concerns to management.
* Operates equipment safely, documenting temperatures as necessary and following established procedures.
* Delivers catering to assigned locations throughout the hospital, picking up dirty dishes for washing.
* Maintains meal serving times and ensures food is served at proper temperatures.
* Assists Cooks with food preparation, including salads, vegetables, and fruits, and cleans pots, pans, and utensils.
* Loads and operates the dishwasher, clearing plates and trays.
* Prepares daily Prep Lists with Cooks and participates in storing dietary supplies and food.
* Monitors food temperatures and quality, ensuring corrective action is taken as needed.
* Cleans and sanitizes equipment, utensils, and work areas.
* Setup for catering events, including linens, chair covers, and flowers.
Requirements
* Completion of a Food Service Worker Program meeting Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act requirements.
* Food Handlers Certification approved by the Public Health Department.
* Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and stat holidays.
* Ability to perform moderate to heavy lifting and stand for long periods.
* Current Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening (VPS) within 6 months.
* Experience working in a kitchen or food service setting.
