Speech and Language Therapist Position
The Speech and Language Therapist will provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for children and/or adults with intellectual, physical, and sensory disabilities who present with a wide range of communication and/or swallowing difficulties.
* This position supports individuals to develop communication skills that enhance quality of life and participation in daily activities through working within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Service Users
Service users are over 18 years old and have a primary diagnosis of intellectual disability or other diagnoses such as Autism, Physical and Sensory Disabilities, and Asperger Syndrome (AS)/ ASD Non-ID.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
* Provide comprehensive assessments to identify communication and swallowing needs, developing individualized treatment plans based on these findings.
* Implement treatment programs according to professional standards, ensuring progress is documented accurately.
* Collaborate with service teams and clients through written and verbal communication.
Requirements and Qualifications
* Hold a qualification recognized by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
* Minimum one year's experience working in the field of disability, education, or training.
* Understanding of principles of empowerment and person-centered planning.
* Skilled in the use of augmentative and alternative communication systems, including low-tech and high-tech devices.
