As a Project Engineer, you support production and supply chain through close collaboration with external molding contractors to plan, design, coordinate, validate, and implement high-technology molding equipment and processes for the production and inspection of components for IOL and delivery system products. Provide engineering support to internal manufacturing processes to maintain high yields and minimize downtime of process equipment. Typical responsibilities include:
* Managing projects & planning, liaising with departments/vendors affected by these projects, working closely with external contract molding vendors and equipment manufacturers to specify, design, and validate mold tools and processes at external sites.
* Reporting project status to management and highlighting concerns early.
* Defining and monitoring project scope, timing, and progress, ensuring completion within budget.
* Planning and managing projects to utilize resources effectively, coordinating with R&D and other facilities to meet design and regulatory requirements.
* Supporting and improving internal processes through analysis and engineering principles.
* Collaborating with Quality to investigate component defects and implement solutions and corrective actions.
* Complying with Alcon Safety and Environmental Procedures.
* Ensuring continual Quality System compliance.
What you’ll bring to Alcon:
* Interest in working in a high-volume manufacturing environment, gaining experience in process engineering, equipment validation, and project management. Previous experience preferred but not essential.
* Interest in Medical Device industry, Optical systems, Molding Technology.
* Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Physics or related discipline.
* Preferred: Master’s degree in Engineering/Physics or related discipline.
* Independent judgment and ability to develop creative solutions.
* Knowledge of injection molding fundamentals, process engineering, equipment, and GMP validation.
* Knowledge of statistical process control and data analysis.
* Report writing skills and strong interpersonal skills.
* Knowledge of machinery directive requirements (CE marking).
* Understanding of process analysis, optimization, and industrial engineering basics.
* Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
* Understanding of high-tolerance machining and metrology principles.
* Basic CAD skills.
* Ability to work safely, as part of a team, and adhere to quality systems.
* Ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
