Job Summary
WEST ABE is a regional consortium of educational sites within school districts and four county jails to help adult learners acquire basic skills in reading, math, computer, and English language.
Monticello is the fiscal agent.
This position involves providing direct instruction to adults in the ABE/GED program at the Becker High School site, evenings from 5:30-8:00 p.m., plus a 1/2-hour prep; which evening and hours may be able to be changed.
Up to 40 paid professional development hours are available annually.
Responsibilities
Provide direct instruction to adult students working to improve basic reading, math, digital skills, and/or preparing for the official GED exam.
Conduct student assessment.
Return student phone calls.
Monitor student attendance.
Complete necessary student record-keeping.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Valid MN teaching license.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to be flexible and function well in a busy environment.
Ability to work as a team member.
Computer experience and comfort with Internet, email, and Google apps (preferred).
Must be physically working in the building/on-site.
Essential Skills Required
Computer skills required; knowledge of MS Office/Google or comparable.
Strong leadership and time-management skills.
Effective decision-making skills while acting within district policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff.
Maintain confidentiality of information about students, families, and staff.
Experience working with diverse students and families.
Starting Hourly Wage:
