Job Title: Staff grade Occupational Therapist (Acute Hospital) Location: Limerick Contract: Full time, 6-12month contract (with potential extension) Salary: HSE Salary Scale (aligned with experience) This is a fantastic opportunity to work full-time in a busy, fast-paced acute hospital environment where you will contribute to patient care and gain valuable experience across a variety of clinical areas.
As a Staff Grade Occupational Therapist, you will be involved in assessing, treating, and supporting patients across a broad range of acute specialties, including: Acute Medical & Surgical Wards, Care of the Elderly, Orthopaedics & Trauma, Stroke & Neurology and Acute Rehabilitation Services.
Key Responsibilities: Provide high-quality assessment and intervention to patients within an acute hospital setting.
Contribute to treatment planning and delivery of therapy programmes to support patients' recovery and discharge.
Participate actively in discharge planning and liaise with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective care transitions.
Educate and support patients and families regarding therapy goals, treatment, and progress.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical documentation in line with hospital and CORU standards.
Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute positively to team meetings, audits, and service initiatives.
Requirements: CORU Registration as an Occupational Therapist (Essential).
Experience working in an acute hospital or similar setting (placement experience will be considered).
Strong clinical skills with an interest in medical, surgical, orthopaedics, or rehabilitation caseloads.
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
