Our Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit delivers both project, programme & commercial management (PPCM) services and advisory solutions across the built environment, defence, energy, water, environmental, transportation, health and care sectors. APD serves projects ranging in scale and complexity up to £20bn. The Water and Wastewater Division focuses on sustainable, cost‑effective solutions to climate change, net‑zero, water scarcity and environmental protection.
Responsibilities
As the Quantity Surveyor, you will manage Client's and Mott MacDonald obligations on clean, waste‑water and environmental projects. You will collaborate with the wider Advisory Project and Programme management teams to deliver project deliverables to the Client's expectations. You will drive innovation in service delivery, provide advice to the team and integrated client, take ownership of successful project delivery, identify and monitor project risks and opportunities, manage stakeholders, and ensure good project governance.
Requirements
* Quantity Surveying degree or relevant extensive experience delivering within a Cost Consultancy or Main Contractor
* Ideally Chartered QS MRICS or working towards chartered status (MRICS) with a commitment to CPD
* Experience administering a wide range of contracts, particularly NEC contracts and using CEMAR or similar
* Contract and procurement advice, cost analysis, due diligence, cost control, cost reporting, post‑contract management on projects, programmes and D & B contracts
* NEC contract management skills, review early warning and compensation event notifications, assessment of compensation events, final account/contract closure
* Preparation and reporting of cost engineering information & reports on a monthly basis and ad‑hoc reports (e.g. cash‑flow, actuals, variance)
* Production of the Application for Payment including critical review of time billed, recoverable activities with commentary
* Provide input and recommendations for cost engineering requirements and actively promote Value Engineering
* Support and advise the project manager on contractual obligations
* Strong client and stakeholder relationship skills
* Excellent IT, communication, organisational and analytical skills
* Willingness to travel to client sites 2–3 days per week
Preferred
* Experience in water, environment and regulated industries
* Ability to operate autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team providing commercial support
* Experience using electronic measurement systems and other cost and contract management tools
