Laboratory Manager

Occupli Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Laboratory Manager on behalf of our client, a leading organisation in the food and healthcare manufacturing sector. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to lead both the Microbiology and Chemistry Laboratories, driving operational performance and ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a team of Laboratory Technicians across microbiology and chemistry functions.
* Plan and coordinate daily analytical workloads, ensuring timely delivery of accurate results in line with business needs.
* Monitor performance against KPIs and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
* Optimise laboratory scheduling and resourcing to maximise efficiency and continuity.
* Liaise closely with Quality and Operations teams to support production and quality objectives.
* Promote a culture of development through coaching, training, and regular performance reviews.
* Oversee proficiency testing, method validation, and laboratory infrastructure projects.
* Maintain compliance with all relevant quality systems, food safety, and regulatory requirements.
* Ensure data integrity and accuracy within LIMS and other digital systems.
* Collaborate with HR and other departments on people management and operational matters.
Experience & Qualifications
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in a laboratory management or supervisory role within the food, healthcare, or pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.
* Third-level qualification in Food Science, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.
* Strong understanding of quality and food safety legislation and best practices.
* Demonstrated success in achieving operational KPIs and performance targets.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with SAP and LIMS is highly desirable.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational abilities.
