Ornua is a leading dairy co-operative which sells premium dairy products globally on behalf of its Member Co-operatives, Ireland’s dairy processors and, in turn, Irish dairy farmers.
Ornua has revenues of €3.4 billion and is supported by a global team of approximately 2,800 employees. The Group operates as a commercial organisation across 10 business units, including 12 production facilities located in Europe, North America, the Middle East and Africa.
The commercial organisation is responsible for the marketing and sales of Ornua’s consumer brands including Ireland’s most successful food export: Kerrygold. Consumer markets are served by production facilities in Ireland, Germany and the UK and by in‑market Sales & Marketing Teams in Asia, Germany, Ireland, MEA, Poland, Spain, rest of Europe and North and Latin America.
It also manages the procurement of Irish and non‑Irish dairy products, the sale of dairy ingredients to food manufacturing and foodservice customers globally, and the implementation of de‑risking and trading strategies to manage market volatility. These activities are supported by production facilities and in‑market teams in Europe, North America, the Middle East and Africa.
WHY THIS ROLE IS VALUABLE
Reporting to the Finance Director – Group Services, the Finance Business Partner FP&A will drive improvement in financial planning and analysis at a Group level, provide financial support to the Group Executive functions of Finance, HR, Risk and Compliance, and IT, and support ongoing work with the Ornua Board and Sub‑Committees.
The successful candidate will bring an analytical, process driven, “hands‑on” approach to this work and will identify process improvements, cost reduction opportunities, and drive greater financial understanding across the non‑finance functions.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Support periodic reporting to the Ornua Board and coordination of responses to Board requests on an ad‑hoc basis.
Play a lead role in supporting the IT function on monthly P&L and Capex management, quarterly forecasting, and compilation of annual budget, working closely with the IT SLT.
Drive understanding of Group costs with improved reporting and variance analysis.
Play a lead role in Group Financial Planning and Analysis, to incorporate 5 Year Plans, Annual Budgets and Quarterly Forecasts.
Support financial performance management (P&L, Costs, etc.) at a Group level, clearly explaining periodic variances to Budgets and Forecasts, and identifying mitigation actions to deliver against financial targets.
Development of financial and operational scorecards to support decision making.
Develop financial business cases for initiatives in Group Finance, HR, Risk and Compliance (including Procurement) and IT, supporting ad‑hoc financial analysis in these functions.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
Very proficient in Microsoft Office; advanced Excel a distinct advantage.
Strong analytical and financial modelling skills.
Good collaborator with effective communication and people skills.
