Job Title: Social Worker - Intellectual Disability
We are seeking a dedicated social worker to join our team, working collaboratively with adults with intellectual disabilities and their families.
Job Purpose:
The successful candidate will provide professional support to promote dignity, independence, and equal participation in community life, while assessing needs and developing care plans.
Working within a multidisciplinary team, the ideal candidate will safeguard vulnerable adults, advocate for appropriate supports and services, and ensure the rights and welfare of service users are protected.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out psychosocial assessments and develop individualised care/support plans in collaboration with service users, families, and carers.
* Support adults with intellectual disabilities in navigating life transitions, such as independent living, employment, and community integration.
* Provide emotional and practical support to families and caregivers, ensuring they are equipped to meet the needs of their loved ones.
* Promote and advocate for the rights and welfare of service users in accordance with relevant legislation and guidelines.
* Participate in safeguarding procedures, reporting concerns of abuse or neglect and following up as per national policy.
* Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including disability support teams, primary care, day services, and residential settings.
* Maintain accurate, timely, and professional documentation and case notes in accordance with best practice and data protection standards.
* Contribute to service planning and development by identifying gaps in services and advocating for improvements.
* Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing professional development.
Essential Criteria:
* Professional Qualification in Social Work
* CORU Registration (essential)
* Experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities or in disability services
* Sound understanding of safeguarding principles, disability rights, and person-centred care
* Strong communication, advocacy, and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Full clean driving licence and access to own transport
* Valid Garda vetting and overseas police clearance (where applicable)
