Overview
Research Associate/PostDoctoral Researchers - EPICS-School of Engineering 011390 – Join to apply for this role at University of Galway. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for full-time, research associate or postdoctoral research positions at the Center for Computational, Cognitive and Connected Imaging (C3I) in the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Galway. These positions are funded by the Disruptive Technologies Innovation Fund and are available from November 2025.
Responsibilities
* Join a team of 4-5 researchers working on algorithm development and building data infrastructure for the EPICS (Event-camera based Platform for In Cabin Sensing) project.
* Deliver a privacy aware, low cost, low power, intelligent in-cabin neuromorphic sensing platform capable of performing analytics for after-market automotive applications such as driver safety enhancement, intelligent insurance, intelligent fleet monitoring, and automotive surveillance.
* Work on the research elements for building neuromorphic data infrastructure and development of novel algorithms and methods for analysing the neuromorphic event-stream from these sensors.
* Contribute to a work package focusing on the evaluation of Data Privacy, Security and Ethical Aspects of neuromorphic vision systems, with potential elements of AI Explainability.
Qualifications
* Candidates should meet the qualifications required for research associate or postdoctoral roles as defined by the University of Galway.
* Experience in algorithm development, data infrastructure, neuromorphic vision, computer vision, or related areas is desirable.
Contract, Location and Salary
The appointment is at 1.0 FTE and is initially a fixed-term contract for 18 months, with potential extension. Salary: €46,305 - €53,373 per annum, pro rata for shorter and/or part-time contracts.
