Family Support Worker (Justice Services) ROI55/04/26/1v-1 **Exciting Opportunity To Join Our Team** Post: Family Support Worker (Justice Services) Salary: Grade 4 Scale, €42,624 per annum pro rata Hours: 37.5 standard hours (including breaks) (Flexibility Required) Contract Status: Permanent Location:267 Avondale Court, Donough O Malley Park, Limerick About the Service Extern is operating the Southside Youth Initiative which is a Youth Diversion Project (YDP) based in the Southside of Limerick city.
The Youth Diversion Project is community based, multi-agency youth crime prevention initiative which primarily seeks to divert young people who have been involved in anti-social and/or criminal behaviour, by providing suitable activities to facilitate personal development, promote civic responsibility and improve long-term employability prospects.
The Family Support worker provides individually tailored support to Parents and/or Caregivers of young people on the programme whose behaviour places them at high risk of offending.
Programme content is based on meeting specific individual needs of the parents/caregivers and family through the support and development of parenting skills, resilience and engaging them positively in their local community.
The programme/s are creative and dynamic, utilising local, regional, and national resources to facilitate intervention strategies.
As part of the role, planned respite may be offered to support intervention work with the parent/young person.
Family Support workers will be required to be deliver all aspects of the programme in a flexible manner as part of a team.
They will work in close partnership with the Youth Justice Workers on the team, statutory agencies, community resources, with the family/carer and the young person.
You will be supported in your role with relevant trainings and be part of a wide family support group within Extern.
