About Your New Job
As the Senior Manager – Engagement, Communications and Information, you will:
Provide strategic input into the general policies of the State Laboratory in consultation with the Management Board (MB) and other Section Managers.
Support the MB in change delivery and policy implementation.
Lead and manage the wide range of responsibilities of the Engagement, Communications and Information Section to ensure these essential services meet the Laboratory's requirements.
Ensure appropriate communication with both internal and external stakeholders for all areas under your remit.
Manage resources to provide cost-effective and efficient services, setting priorities in consultation with stakeholders.
Identify opportunities for securing savings and efficiencies for the Laboratory.
Plan, organize, supervise, and manage the work of the section under your control.
Develop and manage staff using the Performance Management and Development System (PMDS) and oversee staff probation.
Support the Laboratory's procurement processes.
Lead and manage other support services as assigned by the Management Board.
Responsibilities of the Engagement, Communications and Information Section
External collaboration, including:
Secretariat to Public Sector Laboratory Group (PSLG)
Organizational support for other lab groups, including working groups from PSLG
What Skills You Need (Essential)
A minimum of 5 years' relevant experience.
Proven ability to manage client requests, maintaining a customer focus and delivering on commitments while managing additional requests within the section resources.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with management and staff at all levels.
Experience in supervising, managing, leading, motivating, and developing staff.
Strong organizational, prioritization, record-keeping, and time management skills.
Proven ability to run projects from initial brief to completion.
Flexibility to handle a wide range of responsibilities and high-priority tasks at short notice.
Experience in planning, organising, supervising, and managing the work of a section.
Ability to plan and organise resources to meet objectives within agreed timescales.
Developed and maintained contacts with peers in other organisations.
Educational Qualifications
Essential:
Qualification at NFQ Level 7 or higher in a relevant subject.
Desirable:
Additional qualification(s) relevant to the role
