Overview
Nua Healthcare Services (Nua) is one of Ireland's leading private healthcare providers, specialising in residential and supported living services for both children and adults with a range of complex support needs.
Job Objectives
We are currently seeking applications from an experienced ADON interested in joining the expanding team within Nua Healthcare.
The ADON will work with adults in a well-established Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit in North Cork, working alongside a diverse multidisciplinary team.
Main Duties
To ensure ICPs are up to date and that services are delivered to the highest quality and safety standards.
To be familiar with and adhere to the local safety statement (risk assessments and standard operating procedures).
To be familiar with and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
To use company IT systems as instructed and to maintain data privacy in line with GDPR.
To act responsibly and cooperate with regulators in the best interests of the service and the people who use them.
To maintain the highest level of infection control standards in line with company policy and national best practice guidance.
To work according to the NMBI Code of Professional Conduct; assess care needs; develop, implement, and evaluate care programmes; support the nursing team; develop, implement, and evaluate individual care plans with patients, carers, and other professionals as appropriate.
Clinical Responsibilities
Provide nursing assessments of patients admitted to the service.
Participate in ward rounds and multi-professional meetings; support the nursing team in this role.
Ensure high standards of nursing in clinical procedures, including custody, storage, and administration of medicines.
Maintain high standards of nursing care during procedures through supervision and instruction.
Ensure patients' rights are maintained under the Mental Health Act.
Assist the Director of Nursing to ensure staff are aware of individual care plans and objectives, and activities to be undertaken.
Complete supervision and appraisals of junior staff; take charge in the Director of Nursing's absence.
Exercise leadership within the service to ensure sound organisation, communication, and relationships within the nursing team and MDT.
Inform the Director of Nursing of professional issues as necessary, in line with NMBI codes of conduct; support investigations as required.
Assist in planning and preparation for MHC visits and inspections.
Lead collaboration with outside agencies to ensure effective communication across services.

Knowledge
Knowledge of the Health Act 2007, Mental Health Act 2001 and Mental Health Amendment Act 2018; Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and related standards, regulations, and codes of practice.
Experience
Minimum of 5+ years post-qualification psychiatric nursing experience.
Minimum of 3+ years in a management position within psychiatric nursing.
Qualifications / Skills
Registered on, or eligible to be on, the Psychiatric Division of the NMBI.
Post-registration qualification in healthcare management (QQI Level 8 or higher) or working towards/appropriate equivalent; or a contractual plan to acquire within 3 years from appointment.
An ability to empathise with and understand the needs of others; strong organisational, verbal and written communication and IT skills; willingness to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team; reliability and flexible approach.
