Job Title:Learning & Teaching Enablement ManagerDepartment:IR0020 Digital VenturesReporting to:Chief Academic & Innovation OfficerLocation: Hybrid – Marconi House, Dublin 2 (2/3 days a week)Reports to: Chief Academic and Innovation Officer (CAIO)The PurposeTo lead and coordinate the delivery of all activity that enhances the quality, consistency, and impact of learning and teaching at DBS. The role ensures that the College's academic development, learning design, content production and content quality assurance functions operate as a coherent, high-performing unit that supports the continuous improvement of teaching delivery and student experience across all modes – on-campus, blended, and online. The postholder will oversee the Learning Unit, Learning Designers, Content QA, and Creative Studios, working collaboratively to ensure DBS's teaching, learning materials, VLE use, and academic support processes meet the highest standards of quality, accessibility, and relevance. The role has a core focus on the quality and readiness of online delivery, including lesson design, VLE preparation, content development and alignment with Academic Directors, the Registrar's Office, and commercial teams.The RoleThe Learning and Teaching Enablement Manager provides hands-on leadership across multiple teams that design, produce, and enhance learning and teaching practice at DBS. They will ensure that academic staff are supported to teach effectively, that content and learning materials are pedagogically sound and professionally produced, and that enhancement initiatives are implemented consistently across Schools. Working closely with the Head of Learning and Teaching Innovation, the postholder translates strategic priorities into practical delivery, ensuring innovation, enhancement, and quality are embedded into the daily work of teaching and learning support. This is an operational leadership role that requires strong planning, coordination, and communication skills, as well as a clear understanding of learning design, VLE practice, academic development, and the demands of high-quality blended and online education. The PersonYou are an experienced manager with a strong understanding of how learning and teaching come together in practice. You combine structure with creativity, able to manage production timelines and quality standards while supporting academic staff to develop and deliver excellent teaching. You are confident leading multidisciplinary teams and enjoy turning strategy into tangible outputs. You understand higher education, digital learning, VLE use, and academic quality requirements, and can communicate effectively with both academic and professional colleagues. You value clarity, accountability, and continuous improvement, ensuring that your teams work cohesively to enhance the learner experience across classroom, blended, and online environments.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership and ManagementLead and coordinate the Learning Unit, Learning Designers, Content QA, Creative Studios, and related support functions.Ensure a coherent approach to the enhancement of teaching delivery, content quality, VLE practice, and learning design.Develop and implement annual operational plans aligned to the College's Learning & Teaching Innovation Framework.Set clear expectations and performance measures for all sub-teams and individuals.Build a collaborative, supportive culture focused on delivery, quality, and improvement.Enhancement of Learning & TeachingOversee professional development, mentoring, and CPD activity for academic staff through the Learning Unit.Ensure academic staff are supported to improve pedagogy, assessment design, inclusive teaching practice, and effective use of the VLE.Coordinate enhancement initiatives based on student feedback, programme reviews, and institutional priorities.Ensure enhancement activity reflects the needs of online and blended delivery, including lesson structure, pacing, interaction, and consistency.Promote evidence-based, student-centred teaching across all Schools and delivery modes.Learning Design, Content Development and VLE PracticeLead the development and continuous improvement of learning materials for on-campus, blended, and online delivery.Oversee learning design standards and processes, ensuring materials meet pedagogic, accessibility, and quality requirements.Ensure the VLE is used consistently and effectively, with clear expectations for layout, navigation, content quality, and assessment information.Ensure alignment between content development, VLE readiness, timetable planning, and programme launch requirements.Manage workflows for new and refreshed content, balancing creativity with academic rigour and timely delivery.Support the adoption of AI and digital tools that enhance quality and efficiency in content development and delivery.Online Delivery Readiness and Ongoing ImprovementEnsure all online and blended modules are fully prepared ahead of launch, with complete content, assessments, schedules, and VLE setup.Work with Academic Directors, the Registrar's Office, and commercial teams to ensure online delivery aligns with QQI submissions, approved programme descriptors, and operational timelines.Monitor online module performance, engagement patterns, and student feedback, using this to guide structured improvement.Support continuous refinement of online delivery models, including contact strategies, assessment approaches, and digital support interventions.Coordinate with SESU and other support units to ensure online learners have clear pathways for academic and technical support.Quality Assurance and Continuous ImprovementEnsure consistent application of content QA processes, including academic accuracy, accessibility, and technical quality.Use data, feedback, and performance indicators to identify areas for improvement across both digital and classroom delivery.Work closely with the Portfolio Performance team to ensure programme quality, online delivery, and regulatory requirements stay aligned.Report regularly to the Head of Learning & Teaching Innovation on progress, impact, risks, and improvement actions.Collaboration and Stakeholder EngagementBuild effective working relationships with Academic Directors, programme teams, SESU, and support units.Ensure strong coordination with Academic Directors, commercial colleagues, and the Registrar's Office on online delivery, content scheduling, and programme updates.Act as the operational link between academic staff and support teams involved in content, design, and delivery.Represent the area in relevant committees and working groups.Share good practice and examples that highlight strengths in learning and teaching enablement.Key OutcomesConsistent, high-quality learning and teaching across all Schools and modes.Successful launch and ongoing delivery of DBS Online, with online and blended modules released on time, complete in the VLE, and aligned with QQI requirements.Clear VLE standards applied across Schools, supporting effective navigation, assessment information, and content quality.Engaging and accessible learning materials produced and maintained for all delivery modes.Academic staff supported to deliver effective teaching and use digital tools with confidence.Measurable improvement in learner engagement, feedback, and progression informed by data and review.Person SpecificationRequired Skills and ExperienceProven experience managing teams or projects in learning and teaching, academic development, digital learning, or educational design in higher or further education.Strong understanding of learning design, assessment, and content development across classroom, blended, and online delivery.Practical experience with VLE management, online module preparation, and supporting staff to use digital platforms effectively.Knowledge of QQI or equivalent quality assurance frameworks, including programme approval and validation processes.Experience coordinating online or blended programme development, including readiness for launch and ongoing improvement.Ability to manage multiple teams and projects with clear priorities, timelines, and outcomes.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence working with academic and professional colleagues.Practical understanding of AI and digital tools used in learning design, content creation, and academic delivery.Evidence of improving academic practice and maintaining high standards across creative and pedagogic functions.Preferred Skills and ExperienceExperience supporting academic development, instructional design, or digital learning initiatives at programme or institutional level.Familiarity with ethical and regulatory considerations around AI use in education, including academic integrity and data protection.Experience developing or supporting digital systems for learning delivery, assessment, or online student engagement.Ability to design or deliver training that builds staff confidence in digital teaching, VLE use, and online pedagogy.Commitment to continuous improvement and interest in applying emerging tools to strengthen learning and
