Roscommon Women’s Network CLG (RWN) are seeking to recruit a new female board member with legal expertise. RWN is a community development project, a registered charity and a member of Women’s Collective Ireland (WCI). This role will involve overseeing the management and operation of the RWN company and charity. This will involve attending a minimum of six board meetings a year. RWN has a county-wide remit, therefore, our board meetings will alternate between Roscommon town and Castlerea. We also facilitate access to meetings virtually.
In RWN we meet women where they are at. We encourage women’s voices and support them to be heard and heeded. RWN creates space for women to network in friendly, safe, comfortable and non-threatening environments. We reach out to all women, knowing the importance of being culturally appropriate and accepting of women’s diverse experience. We celebrate the unique contribution of all women as we grow in confidence and build momentum to be involved and take up leadership in our communities.
Role
Role Requirements and Key Responsibilities Include:
Advise and guide the board on legal aspects relating to the organisation and pertaining to best practice.
Input to the strategic direction, contributing with insight, oversight, and experience of strategy formulation.
Skills and Experience Required
A qualified solicitor is desirable
Expertise in the areas of governance in Ireland would be an advantage.
Must be available to attend board meetings, and committee meetings as required.
Experience in the voluntary/not-for-profit sector in Ireland would be welcomed.
Previous board experience is desirable.
Alignment with the mission and values of the organisation.
Charities Regulator’s General Duties of a Charity Board Member
Comply with the charities regulator governance code
Ensure the charity is complying with its charitable purpose for the public benefit.
Act in the best interest of the charity.
Act with reasonable care and skill.
Manage the assets of your charity.
Board Meetings
There are six board meetings a year. Meetings run approximately 1.5 hours in duration and are held in-person at RWN offices in Castlerea or Roscommon Town, we also facilitate access to meetings virtually.
