Job Description
* We are seeking an Automation Specialist to join our engineering team in delivering projects and supporting production and new product development teams.
The Automation Specialist will be responsible for commissioning new and modified process and utility equipment, troubleshooting process, plant, and equipment automation and controls hardware and software issues, supporting the development of new processes and new product introductions, and attaining knowledge and understanding of the plant equipment, unit operations, and utility systems to enhance performance as part of project-specific initiatives.
The successful candidate will have a B.Sc. in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, or Instrumentation with a minimum of 5 years' experience, knowledge of DeltaV or other DCS system, ability to design, configure, program, and commission, and technical knowledge of production processes and operations.
Additional responsibilities include leading and/or participating in process, quality, and safety inspections, audits, deviation investigations, HAZOP's, change management, root cause analysis, and developing solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Commissioning of new and modified process and utility equipment
* Troubleshooting process, plant, and equipment automation and controls hardware and software issues
* Supporting the development of new processes and new product introductions
* Translating BMI steps into receipt requirements
* Scope and oversee automation and controls projects qualification and commissioning on site
* Attaining knowledge and understanding of the plant equipment, unit operations, and utility systems to enhance performance as part of project-specific initiatives
* Developing and/or reviewing commissioning documents
* Providing On-Call support and attending site Call-Outs outside of normal working hours
* Creating, reviewing, and approving automation change controls
* Maintaining all site automation systems in a manner that meets organisational standards, statutory, and compliance requirements and minimises equipment downtime
* Electrical drawing mark-up, review, and approval
Required Skills and Qualifications
* A B.Sc. in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, or Instrumentation with a minimum of 5 years' experience
* Knowledge of DeltaV or other DCS system is required
* Ability to design, configure, program, and commission
* Chemical or Pharmaceutical experience is preferable, technical knowledge of production processes, and operations
* Knowledge and understanding of hardware and software drawings in relation to E&I and P&ID's
* Process safety knowledge and experience including ATEX regulations (EX / IS systems), HAZOP's, and Risk Assessments
