A well-established Irish main contractor with a growing portfolio in commercial, residential, and public-sector construction is seeking a Site Engineer to join their team on a major Galway-based project. This is an ideal opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to take the next step in their site management career.
Role Overview:
Reporting to the Site Manager or Project Manager, you’ll play a key role in managing site works, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery in accordance with programme, budget, and health and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
General Site Operations
* Supervise daily site activities and subcontractor performance.
* Maintain highest standards of site safety, with the support of safety and management teams.
* Assist with daily briefings and ensure safe work interface between trades.
* Enforce good housekeeping practices across the site.
Health & Safety
* Ensure works are delivered safely and in compliance with legislation.
* Prepare method statements and risk assessments as needed.
* Promote a Zero Harm culture across all site operations.
* Report incidents and maintain strict safety protocols.
Technical & Quality Assurance
* Perform setting out and surveying using robotic total station and dumpy level.
* Ensure all works and materials meet required specifications and drawings.
* Liaise with design team and internal project leads to maintain timely flow of information.
* Resolve technical issues and ensure a snag-free handover.
* Manage and maintain registers for RFIs, submittals, and inspections.
Project Management Support
* Interface with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure coordination.
* Manage plant and material requisitions for site.
* Track progress against programme and flag delays to site management.
* Assist with programme updates alongside Contracts Manager and Planner.
* Ensure company-owned equipment is kept in safe working order.
Requirements:
* Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or similar.
* Site-based engineering experience on building projects.
* Solid understanding of setting out and surveying techniques.
* Strong communication, coordination, and organisational skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and to programme deadlines.
