Director of Maintenance – Wilmington, NC

The Director of Maintenance reports directly to the General Manager and has supervisory responsibilities.
Job Summary:
The Maintenance Director serves as the direct liaison to the FAA, state, and customer. They are responsible for overseeing every function of maintenance and ensuring adherence to the RSM and QCM, as required by the FAA.
Key Responsibilities:
* Hire personnel with proper qualifications and maintain a suitable staffing level.
* Develop a team environment where all employees feel valued.
* Analyze potential work opportunities and revise the repair station's capability list as needed.
* Track individual training records and identify training needs.
* Provide additional training necessary for growth and development.
* Ensure adherence to the RSM personnel requirements section.
* Conduct daily briefs with employees to ensure they meet timelines and do not have issues affecting their performance.
* Schedule maintenance personnel hours to optimize department operations.
* Ensure accurate and up-to-date data is maintained and used.
* Calibrate and track tools properly.
* Routinely inspect facilities to ensure compliance with FAA 145 guidelines.
* Schedule and track maintenance, including outside customers.
* Perform maintenance according to the 135 Operations Manual if the Repair Station serves 135 operations.
* Conduct arrival inspections to document damage prior to acceptance and address customer maintenance concerns.
* Inspect and track parts from arrival to installation, as required by RSM/QCM.
* Perform aircraft work in accordance with the Maintenance Manual and RSM/QCM, with regular random inspections to ensure personnel adhere to rules.
* Complete all documentation before releasing the aircraft, including:
o Maintenance hours accurately tracked.
o All parts accounted for.
o Individual work items signed by both the performer and chief inspector.
o Aircraft paper logs or computer-based logs updated.
o FAA regulatory forms submitted as required.
o CUSTOMER fully briefed on performed work and its impact on aircraft control.
o Ensure invoices are paid in full prior to aircraft release.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
* 15+ years of aircraft maintenance experience, with 5+ years of aircraft maintenance management experience.
* Airframe & Powerplant Certificates.
* Ability to work varied hours and schedules, as required.
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Valid driver's license.
* Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
* Customer relations skills required.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Associates Degree or higher.
* Additional related training or technical school education.
* 2+ years FAR 145 Quality Assurance Maintenance experience.
