Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for building and maintaining good working relationships in relation to all H&S matters, ensuring full compliance with National Health and Safety legislation, and integrating and implementing health and safety strategies, programmes, and plans in partnership with Group Health and Safety.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, promote, and maintain a strong, pro-active health & safety culture within the working environment.
- Build and maintain good working relationships in relation to all H&S matters.
- Ensure full compliance with National Health and Safety legislation.
- Integrate and implement health and safety strategies, programmes, and plans in partnership with Group Health and Safety.
- Communicate and co-ordinate the adoption of industry best practices in health and safety.
- Assist the content expert in relation to specific safety programmes.
- Assist with internal and external audits.
- Monitor and report on health and safety performance and challenges using predefined safety performance indicators.
- Co-ordinate the development and implementation of health and safety programmes and initiatives designed to continually improve performance.
- Co-ordinate the investigation of incidents, ensuring root cause analysis is completed and corrective actions are implemented.
- Influence employee work practices through dialogue, relationship building, and behavioural safety coaching.
- Assist and coordinate the development and delivery of safety training, workshops, and awareness briefings in consultation with relevant managers and stakeholders.
- Maintain compliance with safety management system.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Relevant NGQ Level 7 qualification or higher.
- Ability to work in a team with minimum direction. Self-motivator who can work on one's own initiative.
- A thorough knowledge of EHS legislation in relation to manufacturing.
- Have excellent communication skills.
- Have excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Have experience and knowledge of EHS Management Systems and their practical application to industry.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with good influencing and negotiation skills. A demonstrated ability to communicate and influence at management and operator levels.
- Proficient in the use of MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook.
