Job Description:
Laboratory Director – Microbiology: Seeking a seasoned leader to manage microbiology team at cutting-edge facility in Ireland.
This is a senior leadership role offering opportunity to shape laboratory operations, drive compliance excellence, and contribute to strategic site growth.
1. Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing microbiology team members.
2. Oversee all aspects of microbiology testing processes, lab design, and setup activities.
3. Manage method and specification-related change controls, ensuring seamless execution.
4. Lead complex microbiological investigations and technical transfers, leveraging expertise to optimize outcomes.
5. Coordinate contract laboratory testing, collaborating with external partners to achieve quality results.
6. Liaise with regulatory departments and authorities on microbiology compliance matters, maintaining strong relationships and resolving issues efficiently.
7. Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth quality operations, driving efficiency and effectiveness.
8. Support strategic site expansion and development of next-generation laboratory capabilities, fostering innovation and growth.
9. Identify and implement process improvements across efficiency, resources, and budget, achieving sustainable gains.
10. Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for continuous quality performance, informing data-driven decisions.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Microbiology (mandatory).
10+ years' experience in microbiology laboratory environment, with at least 3 years in leadership capacity (Supervisor/Manager level), demonstrating leadership skills and ability to motivate teams.
Proven experience in regulated pharmaceutical or biopharma setting, with strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), quality systems, and regulatory standards.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively.
Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop teams, leveraging strengths and addressing areas for improvement.
Skilled in internal auditing, process optimization, and strategic planning, with focus on delivering results and driving business success.
