Citizens Information Phone Service (CIPS) is a company limited by guarantee, fully funded and supported by the Citizens Information Board (CIB). CIPS provides a national service accessible via multiple channels, including telephone and web chat. The service offers information and advice throughout people's lives, with supportive referrals to other agencies delivering advocacy services. It is impartial, confidential, and free of charge. The information covers civil and social rights, responsibilities, and entitlements. CIPS also contributes to other areas of the Citizens Information Board's remit, such as social policy input, supporting the deaf community through web chat, and assisting information-givers across regional Citizens Information Service offices funded by the CIB.
The CIPS Board typically meets at least six times a year at Nessan House, Bessboro Road, Blackrock, Cork. Meetings are usually in person, with options for teleconferencing. The Board has several sub-committees, including Finance, Audit & Risk (FAR); Human Resources (HR); and Nominations and Service Delivery. Membership of these sub-committees requires attendance at meetings and additional time commitment.
We are currently seeking a Board member to act as Chair of the FAR committee, ideally with:
* Qualified Accountant with at least 5 years of senior management experience.
* Experience in evaluating and monitoring financial controls and procedures, ensuring compliance with best practices.
* Ability to provide an overview of finances and advise the Board on financial implications, cash flow, etc.
* Previous board-level experience.
