About The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering & Maintenance, you will play an integral role within the Site Engineering Management Team, ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient operation and maintenance of Clean Utilities and Sustainability Programs to enable manufacturing and supply of our products to patients.

Location: Waterford

The Sanofi Waterford campus is a biopharmaceutical and medical device facility located in Ireland’s southeast coast. Established in 2001, it employs over 900 staff and has invested more than €600m in infrastructure and technology. The site continues to diversify its product portfolio, creating new opportunities.


Key Responsibilities

* Ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operation and maintenance of Clean Utility systems
* Lead the site’s cross-functional sustainability program to meet Sanofi’s Planet Care targets for CO2, Energy, Water, Waste, and Biodiversity
* Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and quality within the clean utility systems
* Manage budgets related to utilities, conservation projects, and sustainability initiatives, identifying opportunities for cost savings through energy efficiency and water reduction
* Develop and lead continuous improvement programs resulting in cost savings
* Build engineering problem-solving capabilities to ensure reliable utilities supply to manufacturing
* Ensure all activities comply with cGMP and safety standards
* Monitor GMP compliance through audits, preventative maintenance, work orders, and document reviews
* As asset owner, deploy Long Term Asset Planning, making decisions on repair, refurbish, or replacement within the site Capex Portfolio
* Manage equipment vendors and maintenance contractors effectively
* Develop and regularly improve training programs


About You

To succeed in this role, you should have:

Essential Requirements
* Higher level Engineering Degree or equivalent
* At least 2 years’ experience as an Engineering Manager or similar management role
* Minimum 3 years’ experience managing clean utilities and sustainability in a pharmaceutical environment
* Technical knowledge of relevant clean utilities systems, energy technologies, and site facilities
* Detailed understanding of cGMP, utilities, and energy management
* Excellent interpersonal skills and active listening
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
* Effective facilitation skills
* Ability to influence site KPIs
* Full understanding of health, safety, and legal requirements
* Experience working in a Clean Utilities and Facilities Management environment
* Knowledge of Problem Solving/Continuous Improvement methodologies and Data Analytics
* Experience with Industry 4.0 technologies implementation

It would be advantageous to have:

* Experience as an Engineering & Maintenance Manager within a pharmaceutical environment
* Stakeholder relationship management skills across site and global engineering teams
* Experience managing clean utilities and other facilities in an integrated facilities management setting
