Health & Safety Practitioner - County Cavan

Role & Purpose:

This role involves working across the entire organisation and managing the daily operations of a busy Manufacturing Plant. The successful candidate will provide administrative, audit, and practical support to the Health & Safety Manager. The role includes working within environmental management systems aligned with ISO 45001, 9001, 14001, 17025, and 50001 standards, aiming to ensure compliance and promote continuous improvement in health and safety practices.

Responsibilities include:

1. Safety Promotion: Maintaining records, sharing safety results, promoting safety through training, toolbox talks, audits, and liaising with consultants and occupational health.
2. Fire Safety Risk: Conducting risk assessments with fire consultants, maintaining equipment, and recommending internal resources and training.
3. New Products/Processes: Recommending and trialing new PPE, assessing MSDS, and evaluating new work procedures or machinery.
4. First Aid/Spills: Ensuring proper training and equipment are in place for first aid and spill management.
5. Risk Assessments: Conducting and updating risk assessments in line with legislation, reviewing procedures, and implementing measures. Tracking recommendations and liaising with relevant parties.
6. Safety Committee: Organizing and facilitating meetings, maintaining communication with representatives, and following up on issues.
7. Accident Investigations: Conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions, identifying training opportunities.
8. Systems Auditing: Conducting audits in accordance with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
9. Legislation: Ensuring staff understand their responsibilities, reviewing new legislation, and ensuring compliance.

Candidate Requirements:

* Level 7/Level 8 Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or Engineering, with additional relevant training or experience.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new systems.
* Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in both factory and office settings.
* Strong communication and observational skills.
* Collaborative problem solver, reliable, proactive, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
