Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a part-time (0.57 FTE) fixed term position as a Postdoctoral Researcher/Research Associate contributing to the co‑design of adaptation plans at specified sites in the Republic of Ireland through citizen science initiatives and the Geography Department at the University of Galway. They will develop and run a climate adaptation engagement hub.
The position is funded through the PEACEPLUS project, C‑MAP and is available for 3 years (July 2026 to June 2029).
Project Overview
The recently awarded €9 million C‑MAP project (Coastal Monitoring and Adaptation Planning) has an ambitious programme of work which aims to develop new and sustainable approaches to managing coastal and marine environments in the border counties of the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The work at the University of Galway has two distinct components: the monitoring of coastal change on sandy coasts; the development and running of a Nature‑based Solution Hub.
Salary: Postdoctoral Researcher/Research Associate salary scale €46,805 – €59,654 per annum, (subject to the project’s funding limitations), and pro rata for shorter and/or part‑time contracts.
