The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Portfolio Management & Monitoring Directorate (PMM) – Strategy, Procedures & Data Division (SPD) – Compliance Support & Coordination Unit (CSC) at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a Compliance Officer.
Position Details
A full-time temporary position at grade 5. The term of this contract will be until December 15th 2027. As this is a temporary replacement assignment, no extension or conversion of the contract is foreseen. Panel interviews are anticipated for June 2026.
Purpose
To define, clarify and operationalise compliance‑related processes in PMM from a 1st line of defence perspective, in close collaboration with the EIB’s 2nd line Office of the Chief Compliance Officer, enabling the front office to deliver on compliance‑related tasks.
Operating Network
Reporting to the Head of unit, you will be part of the Compliance Support and Coordination team, which mixes operational support tasks with more strategic and transversal work across all compliance risk dimensions, arising from procedural updates, audit or oversight activities, and the automation and integration of ever‑growing compliance requirements into existing streams. This role sits in a first line team with compliance experts and is in frequent contact with the 2nd line Office of the Chief Compliance Officer.
Accountabilities
Ensure overall good compliance practices in PMM, balancing regulatory requirements against operational and commercial realities.
Manage requests from the various PMM front‑office teams in dealing with relevant events, decisions or OMEGA workflows, integrating relevant feedback into procedures and enhancement initiatives.
Participate in multiple ad‑hoc transversal initiatives, advise management and 1st line officers, and formulate opinions.
Support relevant elements of the various compliance risk frameworks while remaining sensitive to the impact on PMM, seeking efficiencies and integration into existing processes.
Participate in the training of less senior colleagues and contribute to broader awareness‑raising initiatives; update relevant PMM procedures; and provide input in digitalisation initiatives.
Actively facilitate the activities of control functions on compliance topics, evaluate PMM’s existing control framework, propose enhancements, and follow up on action points.
Qualifications
University degree (minimum an equivalent to a Bachelor), preferably in a relevant field.
At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, including knowledge of compliance topics (not limited to AML/CFT).
Experience with managing multiple stakeholders across lines of defence, collaborating with colleagues of various seniority levels, and taking a firm stance when needed.
Ability to thrive in a fluid workspace with changing priorities, balancing Business As Usual support to the front office with more transversal work.
Excellent knowledge of English; knowledge of French would be an asset.
