Project Engineer
Location: Co. Antrim
Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 (DOE)

Energis is working with a well known manufacturing organisation based in CO Antrim, who have a strong commitment to innovation, efficiency, and sustainability. They continuously invest in capital projects to improve productivity, reduce costs, and enhance environmental performance. Due to continued investment and growth, they are now seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join their Projects team.
The Role
The Project Engineer will lead and deliver capital investment projects across the manufacturing site. These projects will focus on improving operational efficiency, increasing production output, reducing costs, and driving sustainability initiatives.
This is a hands-on role suited to an analytical proactive problem solver with a strong engineering background, solid project management capability, and a keen interest in new technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Manage capital investment projects from concept through to completion, delivering on time, within budget, and to specification
Lead projects using structured project management tools, ensuring clear and regular communication with stakeholders
Identify and implement improvements to increase production output, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness while reducing waste
Collaborate closely with operations teams to improve safety and optimise equipment and production processes
Research, evaluate, and implement new technologies, automation, and AI-based solutions
Coordinate effectively with internal departments, suppliers, and contractors to ensure seamless project delivery
Work with operations and maintenance teams on root cause analysis and structured problem-solving
Manage and report on KPIs covering value, performance, reliability, efficiency, and ROI
Prepare tender documents and technical specifications for new equipment, tooling, and machinery
Produce CAPEX justification documents detailing ROI, carbon reduction, and business improvements for board approval
Create and deliver presentations to stakeholders, customers, and board members on project concepts, progress, and outcomes
Analyse data to identify improvement opportunities and implement best practices
Provide technical guidance to operators, maintenance teams, and contractors
Develop and publish work instructions and standard operating procedures for new equipment and processes
Take responsibility for project budgets and financial control
Essential Criteria:
Third-level engineering qualification (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical)
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
Proven project management experience delivering CAPEX projects
Demonstrated experience increasing plant capacity and delivering operational efficiencies
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent organisational, planning, and prioritisation abilities
Continuous improvement mindset
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office, in particular Excel
Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings and documentation
Desirable Attributes:
Change leadership capability with a proven ability to bring people through change
Interest in automation, digitalisation, and emerging manufacturing technologies
